Driving slowly onto Cape Canaveral, before the first Space Shuttle launch, I begin to feel the need to tell these strangers about my first, and most spectacular, close encounter of the second kind back on October 3, 1980, at exactly 11:00 p.m., at my house off Clay and Gessner in Houston, Texas. As I finish telling them my story, the young German gentleman, sitting in the passenger seat, chuckles in disbelief. Because of their disbelief, I wish God would show them too. In that same second, as if it were a response to my prayer, a dark craft, exactly resembling the craft I just finished describing, hovers directly above the curving causeway road. Its lights slowly rotate on its “cloud-like” edge as it hovers perfectly stationary, just above the middle of the road, a good distance in front of the car. It grows larger as we slowly draw closer. “Maybe that’s what he saw,” the German kid says. I start to take a picture.... |
