Getting LAMP Installed on Your PC
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP) and Mail server tutorial is a very nice video that tells you every step in getting LAMP running on your PC.

If you have tried dual booting, and you have an older single core processor, and GRUB, the boot loader, won't let you dual boot (because your PC only has a single core in it), then download Ubuntu (an older version, like in this video), or another Linux distribution, and Oracle's Virtual Box, and putty, and an SFTP client, like WinSCP (all these application links are below), then you can walk through this video and learn how to get a fully functional Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP (LAMP), (all completely FREE) server up and operational.

Ubuntu Desktop (choose server) - use the latest distribution if, and only if, you plan on dual booting instead of running this operating system inside of Oracle's Virtual Box application.

Old Ubuntu Releases - choose one of these because the latest Ubuntu releases don't work in Virtual Box.

Virtual Box is where you place your Linux distribution (server operating system) to run as a virtual server.

WinSCP is the standard for transferring files to and from Linux/Unix from a Windows host PC.
