SAN or Fiber Channel technology is a Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. invention. As a  SAN infrastructure manufacturer, which provides intelligent and safe Fibre Channel switches, out of the 17 SAN standards available currently, they authored 14. Brocade owns about 93 percent of the Fiber Channel switch market and 60 percent of the total SAN market.
